The English Village (EV) is a place for students to come and practice speaking their English in an English-only environment. It is designed to get the students out of the normal pressures of their classroom, and give them a fun environment to learn English in.
The EV consists of 6 exciting classrooms!
First, we have a computer class. Students have fun learning about all the different parts of a computer, how to connect with the English Village online, and how to type in English through online games.
Next, there is the airport. The airport consists of a check-in counter, security check point, and a mock airplane with a flight simulator. Students in this station are taught airport vocabulary (Airport, Airplane, Ticket, Passport..etc) and a simple check-in dialogue.
We also have a cooking class. In cooking, students enjoy learning how to make a traditional American snack known as a “Peanut Butter and Jelly” sandwich.
We have a Fruit Market which teaches the students the names and the differences between fruits and vegetables.
Additionally, we have a bookstore. This class allows the students to practice their reading abilities and inspires them to read more English books.
Finally, there is the character and career class. This class focuses on teaching the students character qualities that they will benefit from in both their careers and day-to-day lives.
We hope that the English Village provides a suitable environment to inspire students and teachers alike to explore the world of English!
